Schools in the Fallout Zone

There are four La Porte county schools within short distance of the most likely proposed intermodal sites and related warehousing.

1.  Kingsbury Elementary, 0802 W 400 South. 6,000 ft north of Union Mills intermodal.

2.  Kingsford Heights Elementary, 460 Evanston Road, Kingsford Heights. As little as 500 ft east of Union Mills intermodal.

3.  South Central Elementary, Junior and Senior High schools, 9808 S 600 W. - directly south of proposed intermodal whose exact location is still unknown.

4.  Indian Spring school on SR 104 would be downwind from an intermodal or logistics facility near Union Mills.

DID YOU KNOW THAT INDIANA LAW

requires that schools must pump outside air into each class room under positive pressure to insure ambient air quality for our children? Is there ANY system in place to monitor and/or remove possible carcinogenic content? Has anyone ever examined the effects of adding 10,000 to 12,000 diesel powered semis to the mix? With all due respect, no one on the Task Force has even suggested talking about this issue.

Where is YOUR neighborhood in regards to where they want to build the logistics park?

Where is your child's school in relation to thirty-six million truck trips per year serving a logistics facility? If each trip was only fifteen miles in length, then our highways will carry over a half billion extra truck miles per year. No part of LaPorte County will be immune.
