| We're going to take a leap of faith
(watch out below!) and assume our readers here are familiar with the issue
of the possible placement of a massive intermodal or logistics facility
in LaPorte County. Deep in our hearts (and minds) we don't think this is
a logical concept in terms of providing high quality, high paying jobs
in sustainable industries IN OUR COUNTY This website will present information
that will help the taxpayers and voters of LaPorte County to determine
for themselves that this sort of economic "growth" doesn't pay for itself.
It is our belief that all information
we present here is accurate and we will cite sources as often as possible.
Please contact us if you see an inaccuracy you feel needs correction. Provide
facts and sources and, when proven, we will make whatever adjustment may
be required. |

TASK
FORCE CONFLICT OF INTEREST?
Excerpt:
May 28th,
2008 LCLTF Meeting Minutes
6. PUBLIC EXPRESSION

• Ty Murray
questioned Matt Reardon on his connection with Short,
Elliot, Hendrickson, Inc. and how SEH would benefit if an intermodal
was to be put in LaPorte County. Matt Reardon responded that SEH
is a national Engineering Consulting firm and that SEH may be involved
in development in the future. SEH would profit from this similar
to the other 325 clients that it has. The concern was that it may be a
conflict of interest.

Some task
force members or their employers (as many as a third) may stand to
gain financially if project is approved. Facilitator Matt Reardon acknowledges
his employer's interest (he is also a shareholder) in positive vote. |
